We’ve brought October Sky to life! In week 17, students in Miss Terry’s Pre-DP 10 English B HL classes built their very own model rockets. October Sky is Homer Hickam’s memoir about growing up in a West Virginian (USA) coal mining town in 1957 during the height of the Cold War. Resisting the pressure from his father, Homer sets out on a journey to design, create and test home-made model rockets. A beautiful story of friendship, perseverance and family relationships, October Sky is truly an inspiring real-life story. As you can see from the photos, the Pre-DP10 English B HL students thoroughly enjoyed designing, creating and testing their school-made rockets. Enjoy the photos!
