After the mid-term examination, Pre-DP9 developed a science project activity.  We formed a group of four.  Within the group, two students did the chemistry project, and the other two did the physics one.

The total time duration of this project is 3 weeks.  In the first week (from April 25 to April 29) we determined the topic of our group, researched for information, filled out the proposal form, and thought about all the possible problems that we may have during the experiments.  Each group of four determined their topic through deep discussions, like fruits, soap, or even instant noodles.  The topic we chose is fruit.  Since the topic must be something that could be investigated by both chemistry group and physics group, there were many factors that needed to be taken into consideration.  In our group, the physics group did an experiment on the lost of water in fruits, and me and my partner did an experiment on the amount of vitamin c in different fruits.  The reference was an indispensible part in the science project, for it represented the academic integrity.  It was also the first time for us to know about the way to write the reference thoroughly.

The second week (from May 3 to May 6) was the experiment week.  This was quite urgent, because we had to complete all the experiment and collect all the experiment data within four days.  The first day of our experiment was actually not very smooth.  We went wrong on the step of filtering the orange juice.  In the end of that day, we used the centrifuge to filter the orange juice with the help of the teacher.  Since there were only two students doing one experiment, the allocation of work was very important.  The experiment went rather smooth in the next few days.  We measured the vitamin c value of vitamin c tablet, pear, orange, and lemon.

The third week (from May 9 to May 13) was the summary and display week.  We sorted all the data we collected, and made a PPT for the display.  The reflection was also an important part of a science project.  For us, we thought about the reason of our failure and how we can improve it in the next experiment.  We made a poster of the group of four to demonstrate our experiment result better, and hung it in the back of our classroom.  On the final day of the science project, we invited teachers and students from the upper grade to be the audience of our presentation.

Through this science project experience, we learned how to do science researches ourselves.  We experienced the charm of exploring science, we drew lessons from our failure, and are looking forward to the next science project.
