Grade 8 AOI Trip Reflection

This Friday, the whole grade 8 went on t a exciting AOI felid trip, this is the first and fomost AOI, so we’ll have to make sure we do a great job.We have two destinations this time, the first one is T`ou-Se-We, and the second one is The park of Cook Xu.I find both of the place interesting. PLease allow me to introduce the two places before we start, First is T`ou-Se-We, it is located in XuJiaHui. Shanghai Jesus Association once built a orphanages here, the construction ended in 1960. The second destination is also located in XuHui district, it’s Cook Cu’s park,it’s near the XuHUi swimming pool, on the North side, there is a catholic church. This park use to be the famous scientist Cook Xu. Now it’s also an iconic structure in Shanghai.

Class 3, and class4 went to the T`ou-Se-We first, we followed the guide   into the museum ,before coming there, i thought, what kind of place is it? It has such a silly name. BUy after seeing everything with our eyes and listening to the guide, I knew a lot more about the whole place. Inside T`ou-Se-We, where are hundreds, or even thousands of different art products,.T`ou-Se-WE, is the key to connect China and other countries, we exchange ideas, litreture, and many valuable things. T`ou-Se-WE used to be  orphanage, in the museum, i saw a lot of picture of the adorable kids, pictures of the eating, playing, reading etc. In the museum, there are many colored windows like the type they have in the   middle age goth style churches. Because of the colored windows, the sun light that shines in is very beautiful, the whole room is filtered with different colors.

T`ou-Se-WE books printed with different languages, types, categories and purpose. The books were mostly religious but scientific, humanities were also included. FRench, English, German, Lalina, And Latin were also use as well beside the chinese.Woodcraft developed in T`ou-Se-We was a combination of traditional Jiangnan and modernn European style. European artist and native craftsmen work together to create a set of techniques. Masters of craftsmanship emerged generation after generation.

Our second destination is The Xu Guangqi Park. Inside there are many precious things. Xu Guangqi, who lived a simple life and worked diligently in his lifetime, had always been behaving incorruptibly and strict. Xu Guangqi, in collaboration with Matteo Ricci, translated and published the first six volumes of Euclid’s Elements, which is the first western masterpiece of mathematics translated into Chinese. It introduced the basic theoretical system of modern western mathematics and, therefore, laid the first foundation stone for the upsurge of modern Chinese science and technology. He was buried at the center of Zhaojiabang, and his descendent built farms nearby and lives there, thus the place names XUjiahui, meaning the Xu’s family members gathering here. And Xujiahui developed into the largest center of western culture in modern China.

All in all , we’ve learned a lot during  this AOI, we are living in Shanghai so  we should know our city better, so we can introduce Shanghai to other people. Now i know more about my own country.
