1月30日, 怀揣着无限的憧憬，我们一行26人踏上了本次MIT模联之旅。我们一路游览了华盛顿、费城、新泽西、纽约、波士顿等地的著名景点，例如白宫、林肯纪念堂、自由钟、自由女神像、第五大道、大都会博物馆、华尔街等。除此之外，美国多所知名学府也在拜访计划之中，包括乔治城大学、宾夕法尼亚大学、普林斯顿大学、哥伦比亚大学、威斯利女子学院、哈佛大学、耶鲁大学和麻省理工学院。值得一提的是我们也有幸地走进了哈佛和耶鲁的课堂，去感受顶尖学府的课堂氛围，去了解校园里学生的生活。

随着游程临近尾声，2月9日MIT模联活动正式拉开帷幕。然而，计划之外的波士顿暴风雪打破了所有的会议计划，许多代表团由于航班被取消无法抵达，原本600人的会议只到了150位代表，在MIT校园内举行的会议也被迫改到酒店会议室。所有已安排好的计划和会议都被临时取消，营业的餐厅也纷纷关门，我们也只能在房间里焦急地等待组委会的协商结果。晚上六点，经过MIT组织方的协商讨论，委员会最终整合了4大类活动，每个委员会的议题也进行了筛选。同学们期待已久的dancing night也改为了movie night。2月9日的晚上便成了大家焦头烂额的一晚，所有写好的立场文件都成了废纸，议题背景资料需要重新准备，一切都成了未知数。大家非常努力没有放弃，互相交流议题，激烈争辩，在有限的时间里把议题分析的比较清楚。仅用短短一晚的时间，重新在新的议题上快速寻找立场无疑对我们的体力和脑力是极大的双重挑战。而我们唯一能做的就是冷静地重新分析议题，判断立场。2月10日，会议正式开始，终于在一个上午过后，进程也渐渐明朗起来，一切重返正轨。暴风雪来得尤为猛烈，会议也如火如荼地进行着。2月11日上午，各个委员会纷纷结束会议。

这次模联给我留下印象最深的便是我们与native speakers之间的差距，虽说接触英语的时间并不少，但极快的语速和流利的口语表达还是成了我们中国代表们一条过不去的坎。这次会议让我们清醒地意识到了英语方面的不足。与此同时，我们提出的方案较为完整、逻辑清晰，在内容方面与其他代表们旗鼓相当。此外，由于环境的生疏和自信心的匮乏，海外模联较国内的模联有较大的不同，弹性更大，规则也有差异。我们感到，其他代表们表现得更加强势，在主动性、决议草案和人数方面都把握得比较好。

会议的尾声总是充满欢乐的，与主席之间的调侃，和其他代表们的合影签名，各种雪球雪仗为这次其实并不完美的旅程画上了一个圆满的句号。

January 30th 2013, 26 students traveled to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to attend the Model United Nations conference, where international students from all around the world meet to discuss global issues and resolve worldwide conflicts. This year, however, served as a striking yet memorable experience to all of us.

Before traveling to the US, all of us attended weekly lectures in preparation for the MUN debate, in order to gain an overview of the whole conference since most of us are new to the MUN. Each of us worked hard to meet up with the requirements and wrote succinct position papers for the final conference.

Strikingly, a hurricane hit Massachusetts the day just before the conference was about to start. Resulting in the absence of 400 delegates that were about to come. Topics and countries were moved around and changed in the aftermath of the absence, undoubtedly served as a huge obstacle to all of us delegates. The preparation days went by fast with us modifying our documents and talking with delegates from other schools. Through our painstaking efforts, we performed well in spite of the change in topics.

During the conference, we saw what it is like to be a debater and how it feels like to talk about global conflicts in front of international students from all around the world. We socialized and interacted with other delegates and came up with succinct solutions to resolve specific problems. All of us participated and actively spoke to present our own thoughts and ideas. The length of the conference was within two days, about 8 hours of talking and debating, but the experience it gave us is truly memorable. Not only did we master the art of diplomacy, this experience also gave us a chance to learn the American culture and their way of life. The MUN conference also taught us to speak up for ourselves, and to share your thoughts and ideas to others without fear. Through this conference we gained not only English speaking and writing skills, but also intellectual knowledge, maturity, and confidence.
