如切如磋  如琢如磨

——DP学生赴港参加圣保罗男女中学模联

应香港圣保罗男女校校长的邀请，世外中学PreDP10年级8名学生2名老师于2015年6月28日至7月2日，赴港参加该校主办的国际模联活动。

2015香港圣保罗男女中学模联会议，适合具有良好英语表达能力、思辨敏捷、有志扩展全球视野和锻炼演说能力的学生。会议就三个主题：妇女权利、儿童权利和知情权（媒体自由）展开讨论和辩论。来自马来西亚、中国天津、上海等优秀学校的队伍参加了此次活动。

香港圣保罗男女中学为此次模联活动作了精心的准备。刚进入学校，所有人便感受到了学校浓厚的学术氛围，并受到师生热情周到的接待。活动的各个环节安排得有条不紊，从第一天晚上别具特色的破冰活动，到校方专门准备的针对初次参与者的培训，到三个领域专家的主题演讲，当然最重要的是每个分会场同学们认真的讨论和激烈的争辩……在5天非常密集的学术活动中，同学们提升了对国际问题的研究能力，促进了跨文化的互动交流。三个分会场的主持人都是该校高年级或刚毕业学生，让我们感受到了该校学生的风采，在国际的平台上，进一步促进自我的提升。

在参与此次会议之前，学校为8名同学安排了系列的培训活动，多名英语老师、历史老师都为辅导学生付出大量精力。怀揣着之前的准备，世外学生信心满满地来到模联会场，在相当小型的分会场中集中研究问题，给每个学生更多展示自我的机会。大会结束，陈沁怡同学获得了荣誉提名奖，而几乎每个学生都从这个会议中得到历练和提升，也通过认真的反思促进自我的成长。

以下分享同学们的反思，希望更多的同学通过各种活动平台发展一个青年人多方面的才能，成为未来卓越的人才。

PreDP10（2）班 陈沁怡

   值得一提的是当晚的ice-breaking 破冰活动。由于大家来自不同的文化背景和学校，彼此间还很陌生，学校为了真正达到姐妹校同学之间的交流意义，特意安排了很多的游戏和活动让大家认识彼此。由于之前参加过北京的哈佛模联，内心对于这次的模联已经有了一定的模式化观念，例如主席的严格不苟言笑，代表之间的疏离有礼……而当晚的破冰活动则彻底颠覆了我的想法：主席大多都是临近毕业的准大学生，每一个会场的人数也是有一定限制的，虽然存在一些语言上的障碍，但是短短三个小时，各代表之间已经十分熟稔，代表们还和主席一起跳舞，场面其乐融融。在最后破冰活动结束时，甚至都已经交换好了电话。美好友善的开头不禁增加了我对这个活动满满的期待。    

    第二天一早是开幕典礼，校方贴心的准备了一个代表培训以帮助一些不熟悉规则的代表。紧接其后的就是模联的第一个集会，因为会场人数不多，每一个同学都有许多锻炼自己口语的机会，由于整个议程时间非常紧张，在第一天大家就已经开始书写决议草案了，一个个同盟也已经分好。不同于一些模联上两个同盟之间针锋相对的情况，这次圣保罗的模联才是真正发扬了联合国精神：尽管大家可能分处不同的阵营，但是彼此还是会真诚的交流想法和意见，共同改进彼此的决议草案。而到了最后的关头，我们会场的两个阵营将彼此的草案合并在了一起，整个议会只上交了一份草案，这份草案便是所有人改进努力后的结果。

    在这次的模联中新增了紧急状况的议题，委员会会随机指定的一个题目，并通过状况持续的更新来考验大家的临场反应能力。 题目有趣也是有难度的，主席会耐心的给一个个国家大致方向的提示，让他们结成不同的阵营，而每个阵营出的决议草案也是兼并可行性和幽默性，给最后的集会消去了一些紧张，增添了活力和幽默。

    在闭幕典礼上，我有幸获得了荣誉提名，虽然这个奖项是对我表现的一种肯定，但更令我感动的是和我一个会场的代表们对我的肯定与信任。作为其中一份草案的主要提交者，所有的同阵营的代表都积极地帮我想改进的策略，并不计较所谓的名分，大家一起辛苦工作到深夜。也会在闲暇时讨论好玩的有趣的话题，在公共休息室里玩游戏，聊天。虽然相识只有不到一周，大家早已像几年来的旧友。

    在临走的那天，几乎所有的香港代表都给我发了祝福短信，表达了对我的感谢。其实我真的非常感谢这次的活动和所有的代表，这次的模联颠覆了所有我对于模联的印象。模联的意义并不在于个人能力的体现或者是突出，更多的是一种联合国精神，所有人愿意一起去讨论一件国际性危机的解决方法和可行性，愿意一起着手解决，这样的合作精神和友谊，是模联的精髓所在，也是这次活动所有的其他代表，教会我的。

    The conference I attended is the Social, humanitarian and Cultural Committee and the main topic is to discuss about human rights. We are given two topics. The first topic is child refugee and the second topic is child trafficking. The main preparing work I did was to search for useful files and download them all in case I have no Wi-Fi connection on the way to Hong kong. I was distributed to be the delegation of Afghanistan and very luckily I found a useful file which is a survey of the basic condition of the children in Afghanistan. The credibility of this file is quite high for the survey is conducted by the UN. The file help me get to know the basic condition in Afghanistan and help me work out my position paper.

    In our committee, there are only two WFLMS students, me and Sally. To make the condition worse, neither of us has dominant personality. In the first topic, the other two blocs decided to join together to vote against our draft resolution. The result turned out that no one votes for our draft resolution. However we did not give up and for the following topic, we still wrote our own draft resolution. This time, I spend a lot of time communicating with the delegates in other blocs to make sure they can vote for our draft resolution and our DR finally passed.

    During the SPCC MUN conference, the sponsors not only held the conferences, but also held some excellent lectures. Four guests are invited to give speeches on specific topic. The topics included human rights, children’s rights, women’s rights, and the freedom of media. The lecturer gave us many insightful opinions and points of views during their speeches and the question and answer part is also amazing for many SPCC students had raised really good questions. I remember especially clear about the lecture about the children rights. The lady who gave us speech discussed about children’s inherent rights, which made me think deeper about to what extent should parents control their children. According to the lecture, adults do not have the right to deprive children's rights to recreation but most children possess weak self-control. Besides, the lecturer pointed out the fact that in Hong kong, students in primary school only have about 8 hours sleep every day which sounds really crazy and bad for the children’s growth. One night when we were in SPCC, the fire alarm rang at two o’clock in the midnight. When we got up from the bed, local Hong kong students told us that they were still studying in the study room for homework. The Hong kong students were working so hard and it almost formed a tradition.

    Through the conference, I find there is much room for me to improve. The first one is to learn how to communicate and cooperate with people. I believe that is the basic reason I feel hard to blend in the bloc. Also, I need to improve my formal language writing. I made a lot of grammar mistakes when I was writing the draft resolution and I need Sally to help me convert my ideas to formal language for documents. 

    All in all, the experience in Hong kong was quite fun and enlightened me so much in different ways. I will always treasure the memory and I believe it is going to benefit me for the whole life.
