语言的魅力

                        ——记Pre-DP9年级辩论大赛

   人存于世间，语言是其思想交流的媒介。辩论便是将语言的普遍性与严谨性相互融合的最高境界。它迸发出思想与思想碰撞的火花，展现逻辑上的一决高下。这一点，在我们DP学生身上得到了完美的体现与诠释。此次Pre-DP9年级辩论大赛于6月9日在我校阶梯教室顺利举行，为时一个小时。双方围绕“举办奥运会是否是一个好的投资”展开激烈的辩论，掀起了一场短暂而精彩的头脑风暴。

   随着主持人宣读完辩论规则，待计时员一切准备就绪，辩论开始，双方一共八位辩手便开始了一场语言上的激烈角逐。他们分别是——正方辩手：孔奕禛，王彬欣，顾行健，朱哲敏；反方辩手：裘立尔，裴文睿，祝逸凡，张卿宁。

   首先分别由双方一辩进行3分钟的开篇陈词，提出各自鲜明的观点。正方一辩口语纯正，语速平稳，充分体现其良好的心里素质与沉着冷静。而反方辩友也毫不逊色，严谨的思维与自信的神情，让人眼前一亮。两位辩手不分高低的开篇陈词在引起全场掌声雷动的同时，也点燃了比赛的紧张气氛。

   接下来进入攻辩环节，双方的士气与较量也进入白热化阶段。正方辩友先发制人，发起猛烈攻势，反方二辩也给予了明确而犀利的反击。一番激烈的唇枪舌剑让现场充满了火药味，尽享语言上的精彩较量，使观众的思绪也随之起伏不已。在之后的辩论中，双方不断抢占优势，抓住对手逻辑上的疏漏进行轮番轰炸。其中正方辩友曾一度无法回击对手的质疑，而在这短暂的停歇之后，又如涨潮的海水先退后进，与对手又一次站在同一起跑线。而反方辩友则如战场上的修罗，一路劈波斩棘，在控制发言时间的同时又运用严谨的思维逻辑频频向对手发起猛攻。双方辩手的精彩表现无不赢得了观众们的满堂喝彩，台下经久不息的掌声是给予每一位辩手的肯定与鼓励。

   辩论赛在掌声与喝彩中落下帷幕，评委们细心的点评也让辩手们认识到了不足，并为自身提供了进步的空间，在此由衷感谢各位评委老师！另外，值得骄傲的是，在比赛过程中表现突出的张卿宁同学获得了最佳辩手的头衔。在此，我们还要感谢此次辩论比赛双方辩手的智囊团，感谢这些默默支持并协助各位辩手的幕后工作者——他们是：正方智囊团：李家辉，罗彦亭，李牧阳，陈子唯；反方智囊团：吴钰洲，谈昦哲，吕佳宜，沙信言——他们的功劳也是不可小视的：收集资料、揣摩对手观点以及开展模拟辩论，他们的付出也是辩论赛中不可分割的一部分，双方的成功也属于他们每一个人！在此，我们再次将热烈的掌声送给每一位辩手，感谢他们使同学们领略了一场语言铸造的思维盛宴，切身感受语言给予心灵的激荡以及永不泯灭的语言魅力！

Pre-DP9 English Debate

Strong Will and Logical Argument

  The crowd goes ecstatic as athletes kindle the fire, sprint on the tracks and spin on the balance beam. Cheers fill the stadium. This is the Olympic Games video shown to us at the beginning of the Pre-DP9 English Debate. These exciting scenes in the video also correspond to the thundering applause that rose from time to time during the debate. Our resolution was “Holding the Olympics is a good investment.”

  The chair, though having difficulty in walking from her fracture, held the debate together and let it run smoothly and orderly, with the assistance of the time-keeper. She inspired the audience to think about the resolution by asking them whether they think Olympics are a good investment or not. Their distinct opinions confirm the need for discussion.

  As soon as timing started, the affirmative side questioned the negative side on the fact that many countries are bidding for the right to hold Olympics in recent years. The negative side, in turn, alarmed their opponents with the problems holding the Olympics bring. Affirmative side focused more on the profits the entire hosting country can get from the Olympics; negative side put emphasis on citizens in the hosting country. Both sides provided statistics and facts, while the affirmative side used numbers to show the success of holding Olympics; negative side argued that the cause of these nice numbers is not the holding of Olympics. In addition, both sides touched on spiritual investment. The debate was truly a remarkable back-and-forth battle. The audience was impressed. The teachers gave immediate feedback. Their suggestion was that profits from investment are not limited to money and that the debaters could have expanded on what holding Olympics brings in terms of time and pleasure.

  The debate came to an end with the chair’s announcement. The debaters have improved greatly since their pre-contest debate in their separate classes two weeks ago. Just as the third debater from negative side said in his self-introduction, a debate is a competition of will power. Both the affirmative side and the negative side had strong will power and gave logical argument today.
